Welcome to Episode 56 of the Salsa Kings LIVE podcast

Andres is joined by guest Natalie Martines, the professional salsa instructor. He wants you to think about making it count. Everything in this podcast, of course, relates to dance, dealing with both the physical and the intangible, and these principles are there to make the most out of it. You want to make the most out of the techniques and other physical aspects, but you also want to embrace the spirit and music; the intangible aspects that are the very reason that we dance. By making it count, Andres means embracing your partner and the dance in the fullest way possible. You want to be able to see how far you can take it. Can you bring everything and take your dancing to the next level?

You should be pushing yourself with every dance. You should always be working to reach new levels. It’s fine if you don’t always manage to push that far. Everyone has off days or external factors that prevent them from doing their best, but you should always be trying to set goals and improvements for yourself and goals so that you can become a better dancer and a fuller person. You want to get the most out of these experiences and grow as much as you can. Even if you don’t match your previous heights, you can still push yourself even more. Put all of yourself into it and get the most out of it.

At every opportunity, from when you are dancing in the club to learning at a studio, but all of yourself into it and try to make it count. Even if your pace is slow, so long as you continue to push yourself, you will be able to grow and get the most out of your dancing.

It can be easy to become complacent or lazy with dancing, to feel like you’ve hit a plateau or that there isn’t any point. However, the best thing that you can do is to keep making it count, to get everything you can out of every twirl, dance, lesson, or note of music you have. If you keep your passion up, then you will end up pushing yourself to new heights.

“Remember, everyone has something to work on. And not just in dance. With themselves. Understand, making it count applies to all of it. Allow every experience to help you in every way for you.”
