Hey everyone! It’s Andres Fernandez here with Episode 194 of Salsa Kings Live. Today I want to talk about “The Fundies.” That’s just a fun way of saying the fundamentals. I got the idea watching the Stanley Cup Finals with my buddy Mikey. We were talking about how the Panthers earned their dynasty by sticking to the basics. That made me think about how important the fundies are in dance and in life.

The fundies are the basics we stand on. Things like timing, connection, frame, boundaries, and knowing ourselves. They help us stay strong even when we’re nervous. On the dance floor, being comfortable with being uncomfortable is big. It means trying new things even when they’re scary. - Being Confident In The Basics
I want to help you feel sure about your fundamentals. When you know them well, you can keep dancing no matter what. Even if you don’t know what the next move is, you keep going. That’s what makes dancing fun. And it helps in life too. - Practice And Have Fun

At Salsa Kings we keep it simple: Walk, Pause, Repeat. If you can walk, pause every third step, and repeat, you’re good! These easy steps help you feel sure of yourself and have more fun. - Mindfulness Matters
Another fundie is being mindful. Be careful not to hurt your partner. Don’t pull too hard. Don’t ignore them. We want to share the same rhythm and respect each other on the dance floor. - Dance Helps Us In Life
Dancing teaches us to be brave, to try new things, and to connect with others. The things we learn on the dance floor carry over to our jobs, friendships, and family. It helps us stand strong in who we are. - Balancing Fun And Responsibility
We can be responsible and still have fun. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. When we know our fundies, we can take care of our work and still go out with friends, pick up hobbies, and enjoy life. - Check Your Own Fundies
I want you to think about your own fundamentals. What’s really important? What’s a deal breaker? Are you getting upset over things that don’t really matter? By knowing what truly matters, you can lighten your load and have more fun.
